I ordered a refurb model of this for $200 and I really can't wait to go back to the smaller form factor. I had a 2020 SE and loved it, then was convinced to 'upgrade' to a bigger device. Finally going back to a phone this size is going to be awesome for me, can't wait!

Couldn't have said it better myself... I was looking to update my iPad, but am beyond tired of the limitations of iPad OS. I think I'm going to go all out and get the Surface Pro 11 with the OLED screen. Priced everything out and with my military/student discount it'll be around $1700 with the keyboard and pen (not the flex one but the same one you're using). Also speaking of the keyboard the typing experience is much better if you snap it up for the angled approach versus completely flat which I'm sure you've figured out by now.

For me it makes so much sense to get the X plus rather than the elite - except for the limitation of no oled with that option. My current pc is a zbook with an 11th gen i7 with a 3070 in an aluminium chassis. Gets wayy too hot just web browsing with a few things running in the background. Also means battery life is abysmal. I just need a windows machine that doesn’t get needlessly hot and has good battery life that I can work on a long flight because I currently can’t even plugged in - my zbook has a 200watt brick which is beyond the range for airplane sockets!

Love your videos though I rarely comment. Mac user in my studio but a software engineer on PC by day. This is the first year I’ve really not enjoyed my new iPhone (and love my wife’s S24)… in your words, iPhone just feels so “fiddly” now. Looking for an eco-system replacement. I have an M2 iMac Mini, Apple Watch (that I rarely use), 2013 iPad that’s still kickin! The new Surface Pro is a real contender. Huge OneNote user, all other Apps are both PC/Mac… loved these recent videos, Thanks! Congrats on going back to school!

I like these power-efficient Snapdragon/ARM processors. Asahi Linux runs great on my ARM-based M1 Mac Mini. When these vendors of Snapdragon machines make a model on which I can run Linux, I'll buy one. These look like products I actually want.

Love my M1 MBP 14. I do a lot of photo editing, occasional video, full time podcasting and it is always up to the task. Battery life and fan noise was the biggest thing I appreciated. Switched from 2018 ThinkPad a few years ago and being able to crunch video silently while sitting on my couch is awesome. I think I still prefer the old Thinkpad keyboard, but only barely. Plus the Mac trackpad is leagues better.

hopefully mediatek and other companies enter this race and add more competition, this way we'll get faster developement and improvements, for now, I don't think I will pay 1000+ dollars for a first gen laptop chip, gotta wait and see how it goes. amazing review btw, very detailed and informative, thank you <3.

I think the base model now should start with 512gb 8GB ram. 256gb is too less for 2024, i personally don't care about 16gb ram its for people who multitask a lot , but that i guess is a much smaller fraction of people as compared to people who want more storage.

I picked up the 15 inch M2 16GB/512GB for $1200.00 open box on BestBuy and love it. Honestly its a solid machine and itll last. One of my biggest gripes is LACK OF REPAIRABILITY but besides that its a nice machine:)

I have the XPS 15 from 2017, looking at for a new laptop since the i7 in this is not supported by windows 11. I wanted them to adopt a Ryzen CPU since they're significantly easier to keep cool. So it still having thermal issues 7 years later is pretty disappointing. The Surface Laptops look promising though

XPS is always overpriced here. When I bought my laptop, XPS had a huge markup, ended with a laptop with very close to US price. I hear Galaxy Book edge also has an annoying power plan/mode profile, despite being x1e84100, it’s slower than x1e80100 on battery. What a mess.

I feel like calling this a complete Apple Ecosystem isn’t completely legitimate. It covers most of your bases but sometimes you need a Mac, and you need the Apple Pencil to get the most of the note taking capabilities.

One thing is for sure. Apple nailed their 1st gen ARM laptops far better then everyone. And qualcomm had something to try and copy. Apple ALLLLL day folks. My M1 Air and M1 Max are both flawlesssly trucking along. Virtual Machines via UTM run flawlessly even on my 8gb RAM Air. Just butter

get the m1 with 16gb ram, 16 is the minimum you should go, despite youre okay with 8gb

Finally someone says it like it is. All the marketing bulls**t that makes people feel bad for not having the latest version should be completely reframed. M1 is perfect for perhaps 90% of MacBook users today. What does M2 or M3 bring to the table for them? More perfect? Perfectly perfected perfection? We need to stop creating FOMO for people who work with docs, presentations and emails most of the time. Just like we need to stop creating FOMO with the iPhone for those who only use Instagram, Reddit and Spotify anyway.

I'm definitely interested in the ARM surface. I have owned a surface since the RT and had the RT/RT2 then Pro 3 and now pro 6 and struggled with the original RT ones but loved the 3 and 6 never had issues with them at all including battery. I get 6 hours out of normal usage. But I feel arm ones will upp this. Battery will still be poor on video editing no matter what you use it will pull more power but definitely like how arm is looking on windows and great to see Microsoft pushing arm.

Typing this on my XPS 13 Plus. The only thing I can complain of is this shit Intel CPU and a 60Hz Refresh Rate Panel. That's it. That's literally it This laptop is freaking amazing. I rarely ever use the Function Keys, and this Haptic Panel works for me. The Keyboard is awesome [you have to give yourself some time]. The Trackpad, even better imo [especially these Sensel ones[. I mean, it's literally very hard to miss it. Palm rejection is also very good.

Here's something I really don't understand about Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite reviews: It's an amazing processor. Like it's the first, consumer available, open hardware spec (Asahi Linux is amazing but they shouldn't have to reverse engineer the M1, M2 and M3 chips), desktop ready ARM processor on the market and everyone and their dog is reviewing them with the worst of all operating systems. Windows is just objectively bad. Like if the first thing you have to do when you first turn on your brand new shiny computer is wait 15 minutes for updates, because Windows has NEVER had a sane update system, it's just bad. They've bought that shitty experience to ARM so... I guess... Yay them? We've got this amazing processor, and a whole lot of people who have been waiting for a desktop ready ARM processor (Linux users would probably buy this in droves), and reviewers are all out there going "this hardware looks just like the Macbook Air" and "it's just like Apple!" (sooooo much Apple envy) and then they get into the OS and it's just a shitty experience. Like it's not like Apple at all. I mean, the hardware may resemble Apple products. But otherwise, the experience is just awful. The software is shit. It'd probably be more fair to compare these running Linux to Apple devices. And if you were to do this, at least Linux users might get excited by the processor. Instead you've got a bunch of people who have accepted the shitty experience of Windows looking at these going "But it's just not quite the same shit experience I get on my desktop".

To me, the 11 inch is still too big. The iPad mini is the right size. Now an M4 mini, that’s what I’m looking for.

I bought my 15 inch MBA with 16GB/512GB and love it. Battery life is great and I enjoy the bigger display since its harder for me to see, also for a 15 inch machine its pretty light

The keyboard and trackpad are deal breakers for me. The rest of the issues could be fixed by software. Maybe.

If you can afford it, buy it. If not, your life won’t change AT ALL. The little things are nice to have but by no means are necessary.

Hey Everyday Dad! Just wondering how low you can set the laptop's brightness to. My biggest complaint with Dell's hardware is that you cannot set the brightness lower past a minimum point, and that minimum point is still extremely bright and blinding, especially in dimly-lit rooms. If Dell hasn't correct it here, I'm either going for the Surface or a refurbished M3 Mac.
